Pole Painting

Plan a day to tour Pine Island and see our many painted electric poles. Most are located on Stringfellow Rd, heading either north to Bokeelia or south to St James City. There are also poles on Pine Island Rd, in Matlacha and on Little Pine Island as you approach Pine Island Center.

Painting power poles is a 20 year tradition on Pine Island, It’s an ongoing voluntary community effort to put a little color on our island.

Painted by local artists, ranging in age and skill level, from professionals to children embracing the community spirit, our poles depict what this island is all about. Birds, Trees, Fish, Flowers, Fruits just to name a few.

How it works: Each artists submits a drawing to the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce who working with LCEC (who own the poles) approve the design and decide on a location, see Guidelines below.
Once approved, the artists then get to work.

The lesson we learned after the hurricanes of ‘stronger together’ still applies. The more poles we have….the more people that get involved with this, the better it is for the community.”
